Special needs dentistry involves treating children with cognitive or physical disabilities that can make routine dental care challenging. For instance, sights and sounds may cause anxiety for kids with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or sensory issues. It also encompasses accommodating developmental, cardiac, respiratory, and sensory processing disorders.

We begin with a consultation between you, your child, and the dentist to discuss your child’s needs, medical history and other relevant information. We also offer teledentistry consultations if it's difficult for you or your child to come into the office. We're happy to accommodate any way we can!
Next, we create a tailored treatment plan outlining the steps we'll take to ensure your child feels comfortable and safe. For sensory issues, we might minimize lights or sounds, provide headphones or play a favorite movie. We accommodate all special needs.
Once everything is prepared per the treatment plan, our dentists provide the necessary care for healthy smiles. Regular visits will help maintain dental health while further acclimating your child to our office. More frequent cleanings may benefit some children, too.
Our extensive experience and specialty training in caring for special needs children sets us apart. Dr. Alex completed two residencies focused on these patients. Our entire team loves learning each child’s uniqueness to create customized treatment plans suiting their needs.
